We were very much looking forward to Angela Turner’s ‘Singalong’ demonstration at our September meeting, but sadly she was unwell at the last minute and unable to travel. The show must go on, however! So our intrepid Programme Secretary, Sally Vaughan, collected the flowers from Angela’s husband at the A25 Cobham Services so that we could continue with a demonstration as planned. We are very grateful to Sally and to Angela’s husband for going above and beyond for us!
The flowers were sorted into groups to make six arrangements. We are fortunate that we have three experienced Area Demonstrations in our club who were able to step into the breach at very short notice. Our enormous thanks to Jenny Nye, Patricia Ellis and Gill Smaggasgale for coming to the rescue! As the photos below show, they did a fabulous job:
Incidentally, Gill is also the Kent Area Vice Chair and designed the Kent Area display at the wonderful Leeds Castle Flower Festival. The end result was very impressive, congratulations go to Gill and her team for a wonderful display:
Our next meeting will be on Tuesday 8th October at 1.45pm. The meeting is titled ‘Flora-Mania’, and will be hosted by National Demonstrator, David Thomson.
Prior to becoming a professional Flower Arranger, Demonstrator and Teacher, David’s was a property lawyer in Essex. However, whilst at school he delivered flowers for a Glasgow shop, giving him the interest to obtain various qualifications in the flower industry. David became a NAFAS Area Demonstrator which took him all over the East of England and beyond, and in 2007 he became a National Demonstrator. David travels extensively around the United Kingdom and abroad, demonstrating and teaching as well as taking part in Flower Arranging Competitions. We’re really looking forward to welcoming him to our Club, we do hope you can join us. Details, as ever, are on our Events page.
