For our May meeting we were delighted to welcome Emily Broomhead back to Sevenoaks Flower Club. Emily is a very experienced National Demonstrator who also represented the UK in the World Flower Show in Barbados in 2017, so we knew we were in for afternoon of fabulous and imaginative designs!
The meeting was well attended with about 70 members and visitors. Emily’s demonstration was titled “Spring is in the Air”, and it was a very entertaining afternoon with her lovely designs cleverly displayed. The demonstration suited all levels of ability and gave us all lots of ideas to try. The flowers were vivid and vibrant and Emily used lovely foliage as the base for her designs. Her final arrangement used very large and impressive anthuriums in an amazing shade of purple.
Emily also entertained us with stories about competitions she has entered, including winning gold medals at Chelsea and RHS shows.
Her latest achievement came whilst representing The Counties & South Wales Area NAFAS alongside her mother Elizabeth Gordon. They took home a Gold Medal for their contemporary exhibit ‘Connectivity’ at the RHS April Launch and Orchid Show 2019.
Our thanks again to Emily for an inspirational demonstration.
